Fusion Proteins

Fusion proteins are composed of at least two polypeptide domains, each encoded by separate genes, that are combined either through genetic fusion or chemical attachment post-translation. Interest in fusion proteins, such as albumin fusion proteins, has grown substantially in recent years due to their enhanced stability and reduced immunogenicity. Recognizing this, we at Astrea Bioseparations have developed affinity resins that are ideally suited for the capture and purification of albumin fusion proteins in large-scale downstream processes.

Our Solutions

    Purification of albumin fusion proteins with AlbuPure®

    Developed in collaboration with Albumedix Ltd, AlbuPure® is a synthetic ligand affinity resin designed to interact with the albumin component of albumin fusion proteins. This resin is available exclusively from Astrea Bioseparations and features a ligand that binds specifically to the fatty acid binding domains of human serum albumin. The AlbuPure® ligand is attached to our rugged, fully alkali-stable PuraBead® 6HF base matrix to provide a resin notable for its ability to achieve high recovery of high-purity albumin fusion proteins with a minimal number of process steps. It supports high flow rates, low back pressures, and long operational lifetimes. AlbuPure® is validated for use in GMP processes and ideal for commercial-scale capture and purification of albumin fusion proteins.

    Purification of albumin fusion proteins with Mimetic Blue® SA resins

    Our Mimetic Blue® SA resins are optimized to bind human serum albumin, providing a highly effective solution for purifying albumin fusion proteins. These resins are not only robust but also support high flow rates, low back pressures, and long operational lifetimes, and can be cleaned and sanitized with NaOH. Manufactured in large batch sizes, Mimetic Blue® SA resins are proven, non-toxic affinity resins with a solid track record in the manufacturing of therapeutic albumin proteins.
