Pentraxin Proteins
Pentraxins are a conserved family of immune response proteins found in plasma, characterized by their unique structure consisting of five polypeptide monomers arranged in a circular formation. This family includes prominent members such as C-reactive Protein (CRP), an essential marker for acute-phase inflammation, Serum Amyloid P Component (SAP), and Pentraxin 3 (PTX3). Typically, pentraxins demonstrate calcium-dependent ligand binding and have strong interactions with phosphoryl compounds, such as phosphoethanolamine.
Purification of pentraxins using PE PuraBead® 6HF
The capture and purification of pentraxin proteins is streamlined using
PE PuraBead® 6HF. This resin contains a phosphoethanolamine ligand and is built on the near-monodisperse PuraBead® 6HF base matrix. PE PuraBead® is fully alkali-stable, allowing for cleaning and sanitization with 0.5 M or 1 M NaOH, and it supports high flow rates, low back pressures, and extended operational lifetimes. PE PuraBead® is an ideal resin for the selective capture and purification of pentraxin proteins, making it suitable for both R&D and manufacturing applications.
