Other Recombinant Proteins
A wide range of proteins are produced using recombinant DNA techniques for applications in research, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Chromatographic purification is the preferred method for ensuring the quality and safety of the final recombinant protein products. We at Astrea Bioseparations offer a selection of chromatography resins specifically developed for the purification of recombinant proteins, designed to maximize productivity and minimize downstream processing costs.
Capture and purification of insulin and insulin analogues
Insulin Adsorbent, developed in collaboration with a leading insulin manufacturer, is a specialized affinity adsorbent tailored for human insulin, insulin analogues, and their precursors. This robust affinity resin features a proprietary, insulin-specific synthetic affinity ligand bonded to PuraBead® P6HF base matrix. It is commercially utilized in the production of various insulin forms, including rapid-acting and long-acting insulin types. Insulin Adsorbent is also effective for capturing and purifying single-chain insulin precursors. Like all PuraBead® resins, it is fully alkali-stable, enabling cleaning and sanitization with 0.5M or 1M NaOH, and it supports high flow rates, low back pressures, and extended operational lifetimes. Offering an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional HPLC methods, which often require solvent-based buffers, Insulin Adsorbent uses wholly aqueous buffers and provides a sustainable solution for insulin manufacturing.

Purification of interferons with Mimetic Blue® SA
Originally designed for purifying serum albumins,
Mimetic Blue® SA resins are also effective for purifying interferons, including Interferon-α (INF-α) and Interferon-β (INF-β). These resins are highly durable, supporting high flow rates, low back pressures, and extended operational lifetimes. Additionally, Mimetic Blue® SA resins can be easily cleaned and sanitized using NaOH.
